You can start a check two ways. Both end in the same report.
Paste
Open the app and paste your text into the composer on the home page, or paste it into the scan box on any page of silvertext.com. Press Check. A pasted draft keeps its paragraphs; formatting like bold and headings is not needed for the check.
Upload a file
Drop a file onto the composer or choose Upload. Word, PDF, plain text, Markdown, HTML, spreadsheets, images and source code are accepted, up to 25 MB per file. The composer shows the file name and size while the text is extracted, and the report opens with your document on the page. Scanned PDFs and images are read with OCR for signed-in members.
Checking a web page
Silvertext does not fetch web pages. To check a published post or an online document, open it, copy the text and paste it, or download it as a file and upload that.
What you see next
While the check runs you see the scanning scene: your document on the page with a sweep moving through it, and the finding cards appearing as each pass finishes. When it is done, the report's summary shows what was found in each category and the actions you can take.
Limits to know
- A single check can be up to 25,000 words. Longer documents are refused with a message that names the limit; split them into parts.
- A check needs at least a few sentences to say anything useful. Very short pastes are refused with the minimum shown.
- Free scans without an account are limited to 250 words and 3 scans a day per visitor.
