What happens when you run a check
- Your text is read and split into passages. A pasted draft, an uploaded file, or a link all end up as the same plain text. Nothing is changed at this point.
- Passages are searched. Each passage is matched against published web pages, including journal and publisher pages that are openly reachable. When a passage matches, the report shows the source next to it so you can verify the match yourself.
- Language and style passes run. Spelling, grammar, punctuation, clarity and word choice are checked sentence by sentence, in the language each sentence is written in.
- AI likelihood is estimated. The report shows how likely the writing is to be machine generated, overall and per sentence. This is an estimate, not a verdict; see the AI detection articles for what it can and cannot tell you.
- The report opens. Findings are grouped by type, each with its source or explanation and a suggested fix.
What it compares against
Published pages on the open web. Silvertext does not keep an archive of other people's documents, and your draft is never added to one. Your text runs your check and nothing else.
